These scholarships are presented to outstanding students who have excelled in all areas of theater during their middle school and high school years.  Each applicant had to write an essay on the subject of “how theater has had a positive effect on my life.”  They also had to supply a complete resume of their onstage, backstage, and training experiences.  Finally, they had to secure three references.
Because of conflicting student schedules, Playcrafters had two award ceremonies.  Pictured here are the winners, Emma(L) and Zoe(R) in one photo.  The winners are flanked on the left by Jacki Moyer-Hunsberger and Sherry Yerger.  Also included is a photo of Gryphon, flanked by Jacki and Sherry.  Moyer-Hunsberger is the daughter of the late Bill Moyer, for whom the scholarship is named.  Yerger is the current president of Playcrafters.

April 26, 2018

Cindy Borowski-Burns, a long time member of both DCP and Playcrafters, passed away on Monday, April 9 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.  Those of you who knew Cindy know her immeasurable musical talents, her wit, her smile, and her love for her family.  She shared her musical skills with her son Michael (we knew him as Mikey, because that's what Cindy called him as a little boy), and left a legacy of kindness, beauty, and joy for all.  She appeared in many shows, some of which are OklahomaA Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the ForumThe TempestA Streetcar Named Desire"The Scottish Play", and many more.

In Memorium - Ed Rutter

3/14/18

Our good friend, longtime member, and great guy Ed Rutter has passed away. Those of you who knew Ed understand this great loss. Those of you who may not have known him well know of him. Ed was an actor, director, set designer, maintenance stalwart, and a good person. Ed passed away on Monday with his family by his side.

Ed was known primarily as a first rate set designer and director, but occasionally he graced the boards as an actor. His last performance on the Playcrafters stage was in 2013's Caught in the Net, a performance he cherished as he was able to act alongside his beloved grandson, Zane.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life Family House of Philadelphia, https://www.giftoflifefamilyhouse.org/. This is an organization that provides family support and temporary residency during an organ transplant process.
