Grandpa Vanderhof presides over a hilarious family
of would-be artists, dancers, writers, and firecracker
makers. Granddaughter Alice is proposed to by the
boss’ son. When the Kirbys arrive for dinner on the
wrong night…well, side-splitting humor ensues.

AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD ON FEBRUARY 6 at 8:45 p.m. and February 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Playcrafters.

PENELOPE VANDERHOF SYCAMORE early 50’s gentle, homey, really into her various hobbies.

ESSIE CARMICHAEL about 29. Studying ballet, pixie-like never stops dancing

RHEBA 30-40 African American really runs the house, loves the family

PAUL SYCAMORE MID 50’S Penelope’s husband, mild mannered, quiet, charming, has multiple interests

MR.DE PINNA 40-50 bald, paunchy diffident-serious manner,could have Italian accent

ED CARMICHAEL Mid 30’s, Essie’s husband, musician, printer plays xylophone, very trusting but not terribly smart

DONALD 30-40 African American –Rheba’s boyfriend, is on welfare

GRANDPA VANDERHOF about 75 –doesn’t look it. The years have treated him kindly, very much alive, made his peace with the world many years before

ALICE SYCAMORE Penelope and Paul’s youngest daughter. Fresh young about 22 She is in daily contact with the rest of the world. Loves her family deeply. In love with her boss’s son Tony

WALTER C HENDERSON 50’s cameo part (doubles with chief G Man) easily frustrated government worker IRS agent
TONY KIRBY Personable young man (29-30) well educated, deeply in love with Alice.

KOLENKHOV 40-45 Very Russian Ballet master athletic in good shape could have a bushy beard.

GAY WELLINTON 40-45 Cameo part Drunk sings but not very well.

MR. KIRBY Alice’s boss and Tony’s father. Late 50s. stiff upper class. Tightly wound.

MRS. KIRBY 50s Tony’s mother. Society dame. Easily flustered, believes in spiritualism.

Man 2 and man 3 Gmen very few lines. Tough guys

GRAND DUTCHESS OLGA KATERINA 50s Cameo part. Failed royalty but once a noble creature. Once a Grand Dutchess always a Grand Dutchess but at heart a good old dame.



Suki is directing The Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare as a benefit for Playcrafters at Playcrafters; March 8-11, 2018.
The show has been cast. Proceeds will be earmarked for the Capital Improvements Fund.

Volunteers for Barn Staff

Playcrafters is seeking Barn Staff (Hospitality, Ushering, etc.)  for the 2018 Season.  This is a great opportunity to see shows for free!  You can sign up for the entire Season HERE



Playcrafters tickets are $17 for plays and $20 for musicals.  Individual tickets can be purchased online.
