The Crucible Auditions - 4/28 and 5/4

This Tony award winning play is a dramatization of the 1690's Salem witch trials, and how a group of teenage girls can change a whole town. 

Performances August 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th & September 4th, 5th, and 6th at 8pm. Matinee on August 31st at 3pm.

Auditions will be held on Monday 28th April at 7pm and Sunday 4th May at 5 pm and will consist of cold readings from the script. Please bring headshots and resumes with you if you have them. We are a community theater and all work both on stage and behind the scenes is unpaid.

Cast of Characters
We are seeking 9 -12 men ages 30 - 60 +, 4 - girls age 13 - 19, 5 women 30 - 60+, 1 african american woman 30 – 60. All ages are approximate and may be adjusted.

Reverend Parris (Lead)(40+ ) Minister in Salem. He believes a faction plans to force him to leave, so he attempts to strengthen his authority throughout the witch trial proceedings. He is very concerned with his reputation.
Betty Parris ( 10-15) Parris’ daughter. Discovered by her father dancing in the woods, she later accuses individuals of practicing witchcraft.
Abigail Williams (Lead) (17-20) Parris’ niece. In love with John Proctor, she instigates the witch trials by falsely accusing others. 
Tituba (30+) Parris’ black slave. Parris discovers her casting spells and making potions.
Ann Putnam (40-60 ) Wife to Thomas Putnam, she believes a witch is responsible for the deaths of her infant children.
Thomas Putnam (40-60) A greedy landowner in Salem. He systematically accuses neighbors of witchcraft in order to purchase their lands.
Ruth Putnam (16-20) The Putnams’ daughter who accuses individuals of practicing witchcraft.
Mary Warren (16-20) Servant to the Proctors. She is easily influenced by the other girls in the community.
Mercy Lewis (16-20) Servant to the Putnams and a friend of Abigail.
John Proctor (Lead) (30-50) A sensible hard-working farmer and former lover of Abigail who does not attend church.
Elizabeth Proctor (Lead) (30-50) John’s wife who dismissed Abigail because of her affair with him.
Rev. Hale (40+) Minister in Beverly who is summoned to investigate the possibility of witchcraft.
Rebecca Nurse 60+) Wife of Francis Nurse. She is a highly respected member of the community and considered the voice of reason.
Francis Nurse (60+ ) A respected landowner in Salem who is often called on to mediate in disputes.
Susanna Walcott ( 17-20) Abigail’s friend who is involved in accusing individuals of witchcraft.
Giles Corey (70+) Elderly inhabitant of Salem.
Sarah Good (60+ ) A beggar woman – the first to be accused of witchcraft.
Judge Hathorne (40+ ) A judge in the Salem court.
Dep. Gov. Danforth ( 40+) A special judge serving in the Salem Court who signs the death warrants.
